Metro takes two from Lady Pens

LANTZ: It’s not the way any team wants to enter the postseason—on a bit of a downward spiral. But that’s what the Pro Cresting Penguins are doing, after a pair of back-to-back losses to Metro to culminate the NSFMHL regular season on Feb. 10-11.

In the two losses, East Hants surrendered 12 goals and managed to score just three of their own.

With the regular season complete, the Pens turn their focus to their best-of-five playoff series with Northern Selects, which was scheduled to start Feb. 17 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre. Game three and four—if-necessary—will be at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz on Feb. 24-25.

Against Metro on Feb. 10,Amanda Roache and Leah O’Brien each tallied single markers in the loss. They also had the assists on one anothers’ goals.

Lauren Nickerson was tagged with the loss, stopping 28 of 33 shots.

On Feb. 11 in Lantz, Metro blew open a 4-1 game with three unanswered goals in the final stanza en route to the convincing 7-1 victory.

Madison Gray led Metro with a four point night.

Amanda Roache was the lone markswoman for the Pens, assisted by Gabby Fraser.

Savannah Wheatley got the loss in goal, stopping 31 of 38 pucks directed her way.
