ENFIELD: Under the leadership and guidance of a great group of coaches, the skillful and tenacious East Hants Peewee Nationals started strong and made steady gains throughout the season, with a record of 34 wins in 45 league and tournament games.
The team emerged victorious in tournament play; capturing pennants at both the Corridor Minor Baseball Association hosted Ryson Construction Tournament and the Paul (Tubby) Melanson Tournament, hosted by the Moncton Minor Baseball Association.
The Nationals roster showed great strength and consistency, with depth in its pitching, hitting and fielding, and a penchant for come-from-behind wins. Their persistence and determination earned them go-ahead runs late in round robin and semi-final games at the regional qualifying tournament, where they defeated the Halifax Mets to advance to the Peewee A Provincials in Bridgewater.
On September 3, 2017 the Nationals culminated an already impressive season, capturing Baseball Nova Scotia’s Provincial Peewee A title. The victory simultaneously secured them the honour of being the first team to win provincials in the history of the growing and thriving Corridor Minor Baseball Association.
The Nationals would like to extend our thanks to all of our fans and supporters, including special thanks to the Municipality of East Hants for sponsoring our Regional Qualifying Tournament in Enfield through an event hosting grant.
A celebration of the teams success was held Feb. 11 at Shooters in Enfield.
