SHUBENACADIE: Three East Hants men have been charged with drug trafficking after a seven month joint investigation, lead by the RCMP’s Enfield Street Crime Enforcement Unit.
Between April 11 and April 13, three homes and a business in Hants and Colchester Counties were searched in relation to the investigation.
The homes are located on Hwy 224, Shubenacadie East, Colchester County; Hwy 2, Shubenacadie, Hants County; and Mill Village Rd., Hants County. The business—a barbershop—is also located on Mill Village Rd.
Residents saw the action take place about 7:30 p.m. Two videos of the incident were sent to The Weekly Press of the unfolding events.
In one video, a flash-bang and what sounds like gun shots is heard as the ERT members begin to proceed in towards the business, a barbershop. The second video is of all the police activity and near the end a person is seen handcuffed being walked by an ERT member towards an unmarked SUV.
The search warrants were executed and arrests made with assistance from Enfield RCMP, Halifax District RCMP, Pictou County Integrated SCEU (Pictou County RCMP, New Glasgow Regional Police Service, Westville Police Service and Stellarton Police Service), Halifax District Integrated SCEU, Colchester Integrated SCEU, RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime, Truro Police Service, Halifax Regional Police and CISNS.
The searches resulted in the seizure of cocaine, cash, firearms, and vehicles.
Stephen Guy Lively, 32-years-old, of Shubenacadie; Shawn Kenneth Banfield, 35-years-old, of Lantz; and Adrian Russell Nibby, 36-years-old, of Mill Village, were arrested without incident and have each been charged with Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
Police say an additional search will be conducted and further charges are expected.
The men were remanded and will appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on Monday, April 15.
The investigation is ongoing.
