ELMSDALE: The Off Leash Dog Park in Elmsdale has been a great addition to the East Hants dog lovers community.
To celebrate, OLEH (Off Leash East Hants Society) will be holding a grand opening of the park on June 22.
“We invite you to come and help us celebrate on this day, as we have our ribbon cutting ceremony, blessing of the park and so much more. We will have a day filled with fun and festivities.
“Our open air market with over 30 vendors will be sure to have something for everyone. Dog agility shows will be held in our big park, and make sure you bring your appetite, as the pathfinders will be there providing fresh barbecued food,” the group said.
In April 2017, a small group of individuals saw a need for an Off Leash Dog Park in East Hants. East Hants is one of only two communities that has seen an increase in population in Nova Scotia.
The group of five, supported by several other dedicated volunteers, sold dog cookies, dog toiletries, held events, and knocked on many doors to make this happen.
“We look forward to our continued relationships with our sponsors, whose names are proudly displayed on our park fence. Without them we could not have had this much success. This is community helping community at it’s very best.
“We are so proud that we want the news to be spread from far and wide,” said the group in a release.
