UPDATED: Police continue investigation into dangerous driving incident

UPPER NINE MILE RIVER: Highway 14 in Upper Nine Mile River was closed at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, April 30, after a dangerous driving incident.

The road was to remain closed until further notice, East Hants RCMP said in a release issued at 12:30 a.m. on May 1. It reopened early this morning, May 1.

In the release, police were advising that there was a road closure on Highway 14. RCMP are conducting an investigation after receiving a report of a dangerous driver.

“Officers encountered the vehicle and the driver failed to stop,” said S/Sgt. B.J. Rehill. “Police engaged in a pursuit which came to an end with the suspect vehicle leaving the roadway at the noted location.”

S/Sgt. Rehill said the driver–the lone occupant of the vehicle–is in police custody and was taken to Colchester Hospital in Truro as a precaution to be examined.

The matter remains under investigation.
