SHUBENACADIE EAST: The Shubenacadie Wildlife Park announced sad news last week—their male cougar passed away.

In a Facebook post, the Park said that Lee the cougar was diagnosed with a spinal injury this spring, which caused weakness and nerve damage to his hind end. He was euthanized.

“With medical treatment, and the care and dedication of our staff, he was able to enjoy his final summer with park visitors,” the Park said in the post. “During the past few weeks the medication was no longer successful in alleviating his discomfort so the decision was made for him to be humanely euthanized.

“His beauty and spirit will be missed by us and all who visit the park.”
