Firefighters quickly douse deck fire

ENFIELD: Firefighters from two departments responded for a report of a structure fire in the 300 block area of Highway 2 in Enfield on the night of Saturday July 8.

Fire crews were paged out to the call at shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday night. EHS and East Hants RCMP, Enfield detachment, also responded to the scene. EHS left the scene shortly after arriving.

Enfield Fire, with mutual aid from Elmsdale fire, responded. Elmsdale fire was stood down shortly after being paged.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire which reportedly occurred under the back deck of a house.

Highway 2 between Donaldson Avenue and the top of the hill near Alderney Drive was shut down for a short time. It was reopened at 11 p.m., when firefighters were released.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
