Jr C Pens drop two at home

LANTZ: The East Hants Ryson Construction Penguins dropped a pair of home contests on the Nov. 3-4 weekend at the East Hants Sportsplex.

The Pens hosted the Eastern Shore Thunder and rival Avon River Rats in two games at the Keith Miller Arena. Eastern Shore beat the Pens 6-3, while the Rats nipped East Hants 7-6.

Leading the East Hants offence against Eastern Shore was David McGrath with a goal and an assist, while Andrew Antonio and Dustin Culberson had single markers. Hunter Christmas earned two helpers. Ryan Stevenson and Shawn Nehiley had one helper each.

Tanner Edgett stopped 28 of 34 shots sent his way.

Against the River Rats, Andrew Hines scored three times to pace East Hants. Andrew Antonio scored once and assisted on two others, while David McGrath and Ryan Stevenson each had a goal and a helper.

Chad Nemis chipped in with three assists, while Mitch Urquhart had two. Hunter Christmas continued his hot hand with an assist.

Tyler Williams started the game, but gave up three goals on seven shots in 13:15 of action. Tanner Edgett came on in relief, getting tagged with the loss. He turned away 33 of the 37 pucks directed at him.

East Hants was to host Spryfield on Nov. 10 in Lantz, before hitting the road to Eastern Shore on Nov. 11 and then battle Avon in Windsor on Nov. 12.
