LANTZ: The Halifax Mooseheads are taking their game on the road this August.

As the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team prepares for the upcoming 2017-2018 season, the team will begin their pre-season exhibition schedule on August 23 when they host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

The game will be the first of six they play during the exhibition season.

Cape Breton has selected two local players with ties to the area in recent years, drafting Liam Kidney at this past summer’s draft and in 2015 taking Connor MacLeod.

Before the game, the Herd will travel to take part in the Hub City Showcase rookie tournament, set for Aug 18-20 in Moncton. The Mooseheads will look to defend their title there.

Other Mooseheads home games during the pre-season include hosting Moncton on Sept. 8 at the Halifax Forum and Saint John on Sept. 15 at Scotiabank Centre
