SHUBENACADIE: Kings-Hants residents will be rolling out the welcome mat in a few weeks to Alberta Conservative MP John Barlow.
Barlow, who represents the southwestern Alberta riding of Foothills, will be visiting the riding November 12-13. He’s the keynote speaker at a fundraising dinner for the Kings-Hants Conservative Association scheduled Saturday, November 12, at the Shubenacadie Legion.
“This is John’s second visit to Kings-Hants since being chosen as our ‘buddy MP’ in Canada’s Official Opposition,” said John Trites, President of the Kings-Hants Conservative Association. “We look forward to sharing with him our concerns with the Trudeau Liberals taking Nova Scotia for granted and forcing a job-killing carbon tax on Kings-Hants residents that’s opposed by our own Liberal Premier and Environment Minister.”
Barlow is an award-winning community journalist who was first elected in a 2014 federal by-election and was re-elected in the 2015 general election. He is the Official Opposition critic for Intergovernmental Affairs and vice-chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Natural Resources. He last visited Kings-Hants during a meet and greet in Windsor in September following the National Conservative Caucus meeting in Halifax.
“Reconnecting with Nova Scotians and Atlantic Canadians is a major priority of our Interim Leader Rona Ambrose and the entire Conservative Caucus,” said Barlow. “As the buddy MP for Kings-Hants, my job is to ensure that Kings-Hants residents know that they have a voice in Ottawa to not only hold the Liberals accountable for their performance since the last election, but to present constructive ideas on how we can do better than the current government.”
