EAST HANTS: Time is drawing near to the first annual Tide Fest celebration.

The Come Home East Hants Association say they are excited to run their first Tide Fest: East Hants’ first homecoming weekend. Partnering with the East Hants Sport Heritage Society; Enfield RFC; Hants North Minor Baseball Association; Shooters Bar & Grill; and East Hants Sportsplex, Tide Fest will be a weekend-long event taking place July 14-16, 2017.

The event will take place at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz and will consist of festivities including local music, food trucks, washer toss and ball hockey tournaments and much more.

Preparations are well underway for the three day event, including the recent launch of their website, www.tidefest.ca. Through the website, and through partner organizations, tickets for the event will be available for the event.

So what are the big events?

A weekend of musical talent, including many born and raised right here in East Hants. Artists include Makayla Lynn; Mac and Hawes; Hundred Proof; Wilderness; Sam Power and Bryan Gillis; JD Clarke; No Curfew; The Lounge Flys; Shameless; Harmony; and Shaydid.

And for the active people in your life, the weekend event will host a ball hockey tournament, much akin to Play On. The tournament will cater to all ages and registration for the event is now open.

Our tides in East Hants are a current claim to world fame, but organizers are now deciding to make an attempt at another world record. Currently, the world record for the biggest washer toss tournament is held by 486 people in Texas. Organizers and participants will be looking to break that.

More information and more events as they are planned will be on www.tidefest.ca. Be sure to check them out on their Facebook page as well.
