VIDEO: HEART Society welcomes refugee family

HALIFAX STANFIELD: There was much excitement as the Barho family came in sight of those from the HEART Society and other community members waiting in the arrivals area at Halifax Stanfield Airport at supper time on Sept. 29.

The family, who are being sponsored by HEART (Hants East Assisting Refugees Team), were scheduled to arrive at 5:20 p.m. But their flight was delayed until 6 p.m.

That didn’t matter to the volunteers with HEART and others there to greet the new family, who will call Elmsdale home.

Reporter Pat Healey was there for their arrival. Keep an eye out for his story online and in a future issue, along with photos.
