1. 50 Mile Yard Sale 

One of the biggest yard sales in the province returns this weekend for the 24th year running. Streets will be lines from Dean to Middle Musquodoboit to Elmsdale and Stewiacke with vendors selling the best of second-hand treasures. The big sale starts runs from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, hopefully leaving you with enough time to shop all 50 miles.

2. Waverley Gold Rush Days

A day full of fun for the family begins with a parade at 11 a.m. at the Waverley Village Green on Saturday, followed by an afternoon of bouncing on bouncy castles, a BBQ feast, face painting, and entertainment from noon until 4 p.m. The cost of a bracelet to bounce is $10 per child, or $25 for a family of three or more. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. with a Little Fish concert to follow at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m. to wrap up the day.

3. Yoga on the ocean floor 

Be ready to get down and dirty when the tide is out at Burntcoat Head Park this Saturday with yoga instructor, Sally MacQueen, as she host an hour flow yoga class on the ocean floor Saturday at noon. The event will be filmed for the highly anticipated new documentary Canada in a Day, which is set to be released in celebration with the country’s 150 birthday next July.  The cost of the event is by donation only, with all proceeds going to Burntcoat Head Park Association. Remember to dress accordingly, because you really will be getting up close and personal with the red mud.

4. 5th Annual Runway Run 

This great event, hosted by the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, takes place at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport this Saturday. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race start time at 8:30 a.m. This event gives participants the unique opportunity to be on the highly secured tarmacs of the airport, running in either the 1.5km kids fun run, or the longer 5km course. Teams can be made up of walkers, runners, wheelchair athletes, babies in strollers, you name it!

5. Markets, markets, markets

If you didn’t get enough shopping done at the 50-Mile Yard Sale, stop in to the Funky Farmgate Farmers Market off Hwy 2 in Enfield from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or check out the Mastodon Market at Mastodon Ridge in Stewiacke, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., where your favourite local vendors will be set up for just a few more weekends of warm weather.
